Seven years after a body disappeared and an entire town's memory got rewritten, Vijay Salgaonkar is finally coming back to say goodbye, and he's picked October 2, 2026, to do it.

Ajay Devgn confirmed the news himself on August 24, dropping the first poster for the third and final chapter of the Hindi Drishyam franchise, officially titled Drishyam: The Conclusion. The poster's tagline leaves no doubt about where Vijay's head is at even now: family comes before everything else, including the truth.

A gatekeeper's mindset, laid bare

Fans got their first real hint of the film's tone back in December 2025, when a teaser dropped with Devgn narrating Vijay's internal reckoning. In it, he runs through the labels the world has pinned on him over the years — criminal, fraud, mastermind, hero, father — and shrugs them all off with one line: everyone's version of truth is different, and his happens to be his family. He describes himself as standing guard like a wall, unmoving, for as long as it takes.

The team returning to finish the story

Director Abhishek Pathak is back behind the camera, co-writing the script alongside Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh, with Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios backing the production. Devgn returns as Vijay, joined once again by Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh, Shriya Saran as Nandini, and Rajat Kapoor reprising his role — while Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat step into the franchise for the first time. Filming has wrapped, and the movie is now deep in post-production.

From a Goa thriller to a box-office juggernaut

The first Drishyam pulled in around Rs 110 crore worldwide. The 2022 sequel built on it, tripled it, closing out its run at nearly Rs 342 crore globally.

Meanwhile, in Kerala, the story refuses to end

While Devgn is closing his chapter, the original Malayalam franchise is speeding up. Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph released their own Drishyam 3 back in May 2026, and it became the biggest entry in the series yet, crossing Rs 242 crore worldwide off a Rs 43.37 crore opening. And it doesn't stop there, producer Antony Perumbavoor has already confirmed a fourth installment is in the works, a reveal Mohanlal himself was on hand to react to at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards.

So even as Vijay Salgaonkar prepares to take his final bow in Hindi cinema, the man who inspired him shows no interest in putting the story to rest.
