Vikrant Massey and debutant Shanaya Kapoor’s romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is off to a sluggish start at the box office in India. Directed by Santosh Singh, the film opened to lukewarm numbers, collecting just Rs 30 lakh on Day 1. It picked up slightly on Day 2 with Rs 49 lakh but dipped again on Sunday, bringing in Rs 41 lakh, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, the industry tracker.

With a weekend total of Rs 1.2 crore, the film has failed to build momentum and is struggling to connect with audiences.

Day 1  Rs 30 lakh

Day 2  Rs 49 lakh

Day 3  Rs 41 lakh

On its third day, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 16.90% on Day 3. Evening shows saw the highest turnout at 23.84 per cent, followed by afternoon shows at 20.09 per cent. Night shows recorded 16.2 per cent, while morning shows were the lowest at 7.40 per cent.

Directed by Santosh Singh and produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla, the film released in theatres on Friday. Inspired by Ruskin Bond’s celebrated short story The Eyes Have It, it tells the story of a delicate romance between a visually impaired musician and a theatre artist. However, it has been panned for its convoluted storytelling.
