Dubai: Lightning in Saudi Arabia killed one and injured another as they were inspecting an under-construction house in Al Wadal village in Mecca, local media reported.

According to the Sabq newspaper, the same lightning has also killed a herd of camels in the east of Al Laith Governorate.

A photo of the dead camels has gone viral on social media, sparking fears among residents, especially as Saudi Arabia has been witnessing heavy rains and lightning over the past few weeks.

Earlier last month, a young man was struck and killed by lightning in front of his family following heavy rains.

The young man was reportedly out grazing sheep when he was struck by lightning while heading home trying to escape the heavy rains. The family made several attempts to save his life but failed. The incident took place in Sabya, a city and sub-division in Jazan Province, in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
