Dubai: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of Salman Al Khalidi, a fugitive wanted for 11 enforceable prison sentences.

The high-profile operation, led by Kuwait’s Criminal Security Sector and its Interpol Department, tracked Al Khalidi to Iraq. The fugitive had been subject to Arab and international notices since December 4, 2023, following globally circulated judicial rulings.

A specialised security team from the Arab and International Criminal Police Department (Interpol) coordinated closely with Iraqi authorities and Kuwait’s Embassy in Iraq to apprehend Al Khalidi before his escape. The fugitive has since been extradited to Kuwait to face legal proceedings.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior extended its gratitude to Iraqi officials, including Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al Shammari, Basra Governor Asaad Al Eidani, Iraqi security forces, and the judiciary for their swift and effective cooperation. The ministry said that the operation is a testament to the strong ties between Kuwait and Iraq.

Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the Ministry pledged to continue pursuing individuals who pose a threat to the nation’s safety.
