526 single-day cases of dengue virus reported in Punjab, more than 300 in Lahore alone

Islamabad: Pakistan’s dengue cases continue to surge and the health authorities seem to be helpless in the face of this serious threat which is getting worse with each passing day.
According to the health department, Punjab and Islamabad are most-adversely affected by dengue virus and over the last 24 hours, 526 cases were reported in the province with Lahore reporting more than 300 in one day.
The virus since its outbreak early this year has claimed 59 lives in the province while in Islamabad so far 17 persons have died because of it.
Officially, there are more than 16,960 patients of dengue virus in the province while Islamabad with 52 cases reported in last 24 hours, has reported 3,985 cases of dengue so far.
The health experts expect that the number of dengue cases will start decreasing at the start of December as the mosquito carrying virus does not survive in extreme cold.
Pakistan on Friday claimed to have administered 109,586,984 doses of COVID-19 vaccine with 1,309,751 vaccine doses administered in the last twenty-four hours.
According to the Ministry of the National Health Services (NHS), so far, 665,361 persons have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 710,366 have been partially inoculated (received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine).
Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity rate remained 1.16 per cent as 515 persons were found affected with COVID-19 after 44,148 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. According to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), the premiere watchdog monitoring Pakistan’s coronavirus situation, after 11 fatalities in the past 24 hours, Pakistan’s COVID-19 toll has jumped past 28,507 while the tally of cases has reached 1,275,673.
Pakistan’s recoveries with 96 per cent recovery rate are showing a fast upward sign and according to the NCOC’s statistics 340 reportedly recovered from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries from COVID-19 have climbed to 1,224,425 the NCOC further details.
Pakistan’s active cases have also dropped below 23,000 showing there are 22,741 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Islamabad is ahead of other cities in performance against COVID-19 and the city recorded 0.94 per cent positivity rate on Friday. According to District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia, 32 people returned positive after 3,419 tests of COVID-19 conducted in the last 24 hours.
