Indian immigrants are the leading group of foreign-born billionaires in the United States, according to the latest Forbes ranking of America’s richest immigrants in 2025.

A total of 12 immigrants of Indian-origin have made the ranks, marking the highest number out of all the 43 countries represented.

Forbes previously curated this list in 2022, where India had only seven billionaires on the list. However, with the addition of five new billionaires to the list, India dethroned the previous top country, Israel.

Key new big-name Indian individuals to make this list include Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella, and Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest rankings.

The report explained

As a country famously known as the “land of opportunities,” the United States has paved the way for endless individuals to capitalise on money-making opportunity. This year’s list evidently showcases 125 examples of just that.

In fact, Forbes reports show that combined, the wealth of these immigrants are worth nearly $1.3 trillion. This, Forbes states, accounts for 18% of the country’s $7.2 trillion total billionaire wealth.

However, although the organisation has included a total of 125 immigrants in their 2025 list, nearly two-thirds of the billionaires come from 10 main countries, in which India topped the list.

The remaining countries in the top ranks include Israel, Canada, and China. Meanwhile, the bottom half of the top 10 countries include Germany, Iran, France, Hungary, and Ukraine.

The top-earning Indian immigrant billionaire for 2025 is Jay Chaudhry, CEO of Zscaler, a cybersecurity firm. Chaudhry first moved to the US in 1980 as a graduate student, and didn’t begin his start up until 1996. Currently, Chaudhry boasts a net worth of $17.9 billion.

While Chaudhry is the richest Indian immigrant, the individual with the highest net worth overall on the list is Elon Musk. Thanks to his companies like Tesla and SpaceX, the South-African born entrepreneur currently has a net worth of $393.1 billion.
