UAE responds to Iranian missile and drone threats, public safety assured

The UAE Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed that its air defence systems responded to incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran, amid rising regional tensions.

Authorities clarified that the loud sounds reported across parts of the country were caused by defensive interceptions, not by missile or drone impacts on the ground. Multiple threats were successfully neutralised.

On Suday, UAE air defence systems engaged four ballistic missiles and 25 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.

Since the start of the Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have intercepted 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,773 UAVs.

Nationwide alert reassures public

A nationwide mobile alert confirmed that the situation in the UAE is now safe following earlier warnings of potential missile threats.

Residents were advised to stay in secure locations and follow official updates during the incident. The alert thanked the public for their cooperation and confirmed that normal activities could resume.

Defence systems operational, safety assured

Officials emphasised that all air defence systems are fully operational and focused on protecting national airspace, civilians, and critical infrastructure. The Ministry reiterated the importance of relying only on verified sources for information.

Monitoring continues

Earlier on Sunday, the MOD had confirmed the response to a missile threat, prompting precautionary alerts across the country and urging citizens and residents to remain vigilant.

The UAE continues to closely monitor the situation, with further alerts or updates possible in the coming hours. The Ministry stressed that all necessary precautions are being taken to safeguard residents and essential services.

What residents should do during emergency alerts

• Prioritise safety over filming: Do not record videos or post content on social media during alerts. Follow official instructions immediately.

• Motorists stay on the move: Continue driving safely to your destination. Only seek shelter upon arrival; do not stop vehicles on the road.

• Seek secure locations: Residents should go directly to a safe location or remain indoors until an official ‘all clear’ is announced.

• Use emergency hotline responsibly: Call 999 only for genuine emergencies to keep lines open for critical cases.

• Avoid spreading rumours: Do not share unverified information online; rely on official channels for updates.
