Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have set up a team to tackle begging throughout the emirate.
Brig Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director-General of the Capital Police, said that begging is a negative practice that damages the civilised image of the country. He added that such acts provide opportunity for beggars to swindle money from the public and can lead to other crimes such as theft. The public can report such activities to Police Central Operations (999), toll free (8002626) or by texting (2828).
