Flag to be unfurled at 7.30am, programme to be attended only by consulate staff

Dubai: The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai will lead the celebration of the 74th Indian Independence Day on Saturday (August 15).
The commemoration will start with Dr Aman Puri, Consul General of India to Dubai and Northern Emirates, unfurling the tricolour at 7.30am, followed by the singing of the Indian national anthem and reading of message from the President of India.

“Due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and social distancing norms, it is not possible for the people to come to the Consulate to celebrate this day,” said a statement from CGI sent to Gulf News on Thursday.
