Dubai: Al Nasr lost 1-0 at home to Al Wahda in an early game of match-day two of the Etisalat Pro League yesterday.

Al Wahda, former league champions from Abu Dhabi, who started with just one overseas signing (Magrao), went ahead on 11 minutes when Al Nasr's Mahmoud Darwish failed to control and clear a tame Eisa Ahmad in-ball. The error allowed Mohammad Al Shehi, lingering on the left to shoot across goal into the right corner with ease — consequently sealing the win.

It came after the miss of an opening sitter on two minutes for Al Nasr after a cross from Rodrigo Vergilio to Amara Diane who, running into the box unmarked with an open net, just couldn't reach the toe-poke finish despite being outstretched.

Al Wahda's Amer Omar was denied on nine minutes after his daring chip was tipped over the cross-bar by Abdullah Ali's fingertip. In a similar display of keeping guile up the other end, Bader Yaqoot's through ball to Amara Diane on 17 minutes was denied by the outcoming Mutaz Abdullah in a brave one-on-one to stop Al Nasr's debutant Ivorian striker from levelling.

Saeed Al Katheri may well have made it 2-0 for Al Wahda after he attempted a lob from outside the box on 33 minutes after a neat supply from Eisa Ahmad, but he overhit the effort to see it arc a yard too far. Al Katheri had another chance go begging on 63 minutes after back-heeling an Al Shehi cross.
