It took English football fans no time at all to take their anger off of social media and onto the streets on Monday in protest of the new European Super League, a controversial breakaway competition featuring 12 major European clubs, including the 'big six' from the Premier League - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Fans flocked to various stadiums to voice their opposition. A Manchester City supporter posed outside the Etihad Stadium with a spray painted sign that read: 'RIP MCFC, 1894-2021'.

Fans gathered outside the Elland Road Stadium in Leeds, where Leeds United were playing against Liverpool.

They held up signs calling out 'super greed' before the fixture, which ended in a draw.

'Created by the poor, stolen by the rich'; the phrase has quickly become an anti-European Super League slogan.

The protests extended onto the pitch, as well, where Leads United players wore training shirts that read 'Champions League - Earn it' on the front and 'Football is for the fans' on the back.
