The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had been conducting trials before flagging of driverless trains. Thus, the inauguration of the first driverless train service in India is a major milestone in the transport network of the country. The trials were conducted to test the automation of the new metro trains, equipped with Unattended Train Operations (UTO) and CBTC (Communication Based Train Control) signalling systems, which will bring a significant increase in their frequency.
