From the Editors: Yet another feather in the cap of Abu Dhabi University

YET ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP OF ABU DHABI UNIVERSITY: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has received a five-star rating in latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings – a highly respected global ranking platform for universities. The Abu Dhabi-based institution has also achieved the maximum possible rating of five stars in the key categories of teaching, employability, internationalisation, research, online learning, facilities and inclusiveness. This latest recognition for ADU is a further validation of the premier UAE higher education institute’s commitment to nurturing talent and preparing the finest professionals and academics of the future. ADU’s 100 per cent score in the teaching category for both student and teaching satisfaction bears testament to how significant a role ADU academics play as facilitators in the pursuit of knowledge and development of human capital. WOODS INDUCTED INTO WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME: Having won 15 majors and the PGA Tour title 82 times, the legendary Tiger Woods was deservedly inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame yesterday. The 46-year-old American is still recovering from injuries following a car crash in February last year. He is yet to make his return to the PGA and has not set a date but last November a social media post of him hitting golf balls under the title “making progress” attracted 7.8 million views. And, he played with his son Charlie at the PNC Championship – a parent-child exhibition event – the following month in December, however he will miss this week’s Players Championship at Sawgrass. The ceremony took place at the PGA Tour headquarters in Florida and Woods broke down in tears when he was inducted. He spoke of the difficulties he faced as a black and Asian golfer and how he was not allowed into the clubhouses at golf clubs. CELEBRITIES ARE EASY TARGETS FOR TROLLS: Bollywood star Malaika Arora recently turned heads when she attended a party in a sleek, sheer black outfit. She was praised by many for her fashion sense. However, some people took issue with the outfit. The model and actress hit out at the trolls in a recent interview, calling them hypocritical, because she said they wouldn’t criticise Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez for wearing the same thing. Trolls hide behind their computers and make comments about people they’ve never met, without thinking about the feelings of the person they’re targeting.
