The announcement follows the Season 2 premiere on January 16
Kitty’s journey in Seoul is far from over. Netflix has officially greenlit XO, Kitty for a third season. Fittingly, given the show's focus on romance, Anna Cathcart, who plays the lead role, received the renewal news on Valentine’s Day. The announcement follows the Season 2 premiere on January 16.
Showrunner Jessica O’Toole teased what’s ahead, hinting at how the show will resolve the Season 2 cliffhanger—where Kitty impulsively joins Min Ho (Sang Heon-lee) on a summer trip with his father and brother. Seasons 1 and 2 followed Kitty’s junior year at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), spanning two semesters. Season 3 is expected to pick up from there, but not before a brief summer detour.
O'Toole said, as quoted by Deadline, “I’m so excited to head back to Seoul for another season with our incredible cast and crew. If you thought junior year at KISS brought the drama…just wait. I know we left fans on a cliffhanger at the end of Season 2 but I can promise season 3 will be worth the wait, including our first summer episode — not to mention plenty of romance, friendship, adventure…and kissing. Lots of kissing.”
XO, Kitty Season 2 made a strong debut, landing at #2 on Netflix’s English TV list with 14.2 million views, surpassing the premiere numbers of The Night Agent Season 2. The buzz even brought Season 1 back into the Top 10, while To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before resurfaced in Netflix’s English films ranking.
Produced by Awesomeness Studios and ACE Entertainment, Season 2 saw Kitty return to KISS for a new semester, determined to avoid drama and meddling in love lives. But a letter from her mother’s past set her on an unexpected path, shifting not just her romantic prospects but possibly her future ambitions.
The release date for Season 3 has yet to be announced.
