Rickie Fowler will be hoping to buck a Masters Tournament trend after winning the tournament’s Par 3 Contest at Augusta National.

No player who has won the Par-3 Contest has captured the Green Jacket in the same year since Augusta National began the Masters-eve, nine-hole event in 1960.

Fowler, who is playing the first Major Championship of the year for the first time since 2020, won by two strokes from Sepp Straka, JT Poston and amateur Santiago de la Fuente after carding five birdies for a bogey-free 22 on the par-three course.

There were also five aces made during the event, equalling last year’s total, with Viktor Hovland, Luke List and Gary Woodland all making a one at the sixth hole, while Lucas Glover and Straka aced the fifth and seventh respectively.
