Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai Men’s Open Preview

A full field of 75 amateurs will compete over 54 holes

The 2023 Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai Men’s Open first round takes place tomorrow (Friday) with rounds two and three on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

This 54 hole individual strokeplay tournament is the ninth event on the Emirates Golf Federation’s (EGF) Men’s Order of Merit as well as an approved World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event supported by the R&A.

A full field of 75 amateurs will compete with a two tee start from 7 am off both the first and tenth tees. The highest handicapper in the field is six with 15 players balloted out.

The event is open to all golfers holding an EGF Handicap or an internationally recognised Golf Federation handicap.

Play will be from the Black Tees.

Four of the leading five players in the 2022 – 2023 Order of Merit are playing, with Sam Mullane (+5) the current Merit Table leader playing alongside second placed Jonathan Selvaraj (+6) at 7 am.

Local Montgomerie Golf Club members in the field include: Vice-Captain Omar Souab (3), staff member at Montgomerie Golf Club originally from Sri Lanka, Sivasubramaniyam Sawmiyan (1), and Club Scratch League Captain Farhan Yaqub (1).

Promising youngsters in the draw and ones to watch are Rayan Ahmed (+1) and Adam Campbell (4), who are amongst the 15 Montgomerie Golf Club members in the field.
