Dubai: At least six students drowned on Saturday morning at Abu Talat Beach in Alexandria’s Agamy district, Egyptian authorities said. Another 24 students were injured during a school trip organised by a hospitality academy.
Emergency services dispatched 16 fully equipped ambulances to the scene, and the victims were evacuated to nearby hospitals. Thirteen students were taken to Agamy Specialised Hospital, eight to Amriya General Hospital, while three others received treatment on-site.
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said he was closely monitoring the emergency response and the medical care being provided.
The ministry confirmed that specialised medical teams are treating the injured students for asphyxia-related complications caused by drowning.
