An Indian worker has been killed after Iranian strikes hit a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity has reported that the service building in one of its power stations and water desalination plants was damaged due to an Iranian attack on the State of Kuwait, according to the official news agency.

According to the Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said a service building at one of its power and water distillation plants was damaged during what officials described as a “brutal attack”.

Worker killed in strike

Ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat said the strike resulted in the death of a worker of Indian nationality.

Technical and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site to contain the situation and manage the aftermath in line with the ministry’s approved emergency plan, she added.

Emergency teams respond

Hayat said specialised teams are working to secure the damaged facilities while coordinating closely with security authorities and other relevant agencies.

Despite the attack, the ministry stressed that operational efficiency across the electricity and water network remains intact.

Authorities urge calm

Officials also urged residents to rely only on verified information and avoid spreading rumours during the ongoing situation.

Hayat emphasised that maintaining the stability and safety of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems remains a top priority, noting that technical teams are working around the clock to address any potential emergencies and ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential services.
