Starting with the 2024–25 academic session, CBSE has implemented a Relative Grading system to reduce academic pressure and curb unhealthy competition among students.
Unlike the previous fixed-range method (e.g., 91–100 marks = A1), the new system assigns grades based on students’ performance relative to their peers. Grade distribution will vary by subject and depend on how many students passed in each group.
Exam stats:
This year, over 42 lakh (4.2 million) students appeared for the CBSE board exams, which were held between February 15 and April 4, 2025.
Class 10 exams concluded on March 18
Class 12 exams ended on April 4
In 2024, the board recorded high pass percentages:
Class 10: 93.60% (20.95 lakh passed out of 22.38 lakh)
Class 12: 87.98% (14.26 lakh passed out of 16.21 lakh)
