A tragic incident in Delhi on Sunday claimed the life of a two-year-old girl, who was fatally run over by a car driven by a 15-year-old during Eid celebrations, NDTV News reported.

According to the report, CCTV footage captured the heartbreaking moment in Paharganj when the car slowly approached the child as she played outside her home. The driver briefly stopped just a meter away before moving forward, seemingly unaware of her presence. The car’s left front wheel ran over her. Bystanders rushed to the scene, and the vehicle was reversed to free her. Despite being taken to a hospital immediately, she succumbed to her injuries.

Delhi Police confirmed that the car belonged to a neighbor and was being driven by his son. A case has been registered for rash driving and causing death by negligence, and the teen's father has been taken into custody.

As NDTV reported, the tragedy turned Eid celebrations into mourning for the child's family.

The incident has reignited concerns about the lax enforcement of underage driving laws. NDTV highlighted a similar case last year in Pune, where a teenager driving a Porsche killed two software engineers, sparking public outrage. Despite such incidents, the Delhi case suggests that families continue to overlook the dangers of allowing minors behind the wheel.
