Dubai: Emergency workers in Dubai rescued a man after his car plunged into a construction excavation site on the first day of Eid on Friday, the Dubai Civil Defence said on Sunday.

The vehicle fell into the 15-metre hole at the site in Dubai's Al Khawaneej district and the driver was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries.

The rescuers used a ladder to retrieve the driver from the excavation site and airlifted him to the hospital.

“The Dubai Civil Defense and Dubai Police teams rescued the driver and air-lifted him to the hospital using a police helicopter. He is recovering from his injuries,” official told Gulf News.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
