Dubai: An Indian expat from Dubai has struck luck in Big Ticket’s weekly e-draw series 277, winning Dh50,000.
Dexter Menezes, a 42-year-old Mumbaikar who has lived in the UAE for the past 13 years, works in the FMCG industry. He was at work when Big Ticket host Richard called to break the news.
“I am sitting in my office,” he said, as Richard urged him to shout out loud that he had won Dh50,000.
Menezes purchased the winning ticket number 229481 on July 15.

“I’ve been buying tickets on and off, but not regularly. This is the first time I’ve won.”

‘I thought it was a payment issue’

He usually buys his ticket solo and was caught off guard by the winning call.
“At first, I thought my card payment didn’t go through, and they were calling to confirm my details. I didn’t expect it at all,” Menezes said, noting plans to invest his winnings, confident in the opportunities available in the UAE market.

‘The odds are always in your favour’

He also intends to continue purchasing tickets and encourages others to keep trying.

“You never know when, but sooner or later, the odds are always in your favour.”
He described Big Ticket as a wonderful initiative that gives people something to look forward to. “It’s always nice to have some sort of hope.”

His ticket will also be entered into the grand prize draw on August 3.

“Well, that’s a dream,” he said about winning the jackpot.
