Dubai Police began its journey in June 1956, operating from the historic Naif Fort
The streets of Naif came alive with pride, tradition, and community spirit as Dubai Police marked its 69th anniversary on June 1—a tribute to nearly seven decades of dedicated service since the force’s founding in 1956.
Organised by Naif Police Station in collaboration with the Positive Spirit Council, the vibrant community parade wound its way through the heart of the district, drawing crowds of residents, shopkeepers, families, and curious visitors. For many, it was more than a spectacle—it was a show of unity and appreciation for the men and women in uniform who keep their neighborhoods safe.
Among the dignitaries attending were Expert Major General Dr. Muhammad Isa Al Adhab, Director of the Mounted Police Station and Chairman of the Police Stations Board of Directors; Expert Brigadier Omar Ashour, Deputy Director of Naif Police Station; Fatima Buhjair, Chair of the Positive Spirit Council; and First Lieutenant Saeed Ghadir, Vice Chair of the Council. Officers and staff from various units also joined, creating an atmosphere charged with pride and purpose.
The parade featured an impressive lineup of Dubai Police units, including the Mounted Police, K9 Security Inspection Unit, Police Band, Foot Patrols, Bicycle and Motorcycle Units, Vintage Patrol Cars, Tourist Police, the high-tech “Ghiath” Smart Patrol, SWAT Tactical Vehicles, Riot Control Units, and even a helicopter flyover. The ceremonial Iftar Cannon—a cultural symbol—added a heritage touch to the celebration.
Major General Al Adhab praised the energy and dedication of all participating teams, noting the strong turnout as a testament to the deep bond between Dubai Police and the community. “Initiatives like these are part of our ongoing mission to foster trust, celebrate our shared values, and reflect the civilised image of security in Dubai,” he said.
Dubai Police began its journey in June 1956, operating from the historic Naif Fort, which served as its original headquarters until 1973. Today, the fort stands as Naif Police Station—bridging past and present, and reminding the community how far the force has come.
As Dubai continues to grow, the spirit of service, safety, and solidarity celebrated on this anniversary remains at the core of the city’s policing mission.
