Dubai: An unemployed man has denied tying up his teenage friend and raping him when the teenager visited him at his villa.

Prosecutors accused the 30-year-old Emirati of assaulting his 17-year-old friend then forcing him into the bedroom where he had sex with him against his will after he tied him up.

"Not at all. I didn't do that. I am not guilty," said 30-year-old S.S. when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

According to the charge sheet, S.S. was said to have slapped the teenager then forced him into the bedroom. He then tied up the teenager's legs with a belt and tied his hands with a piece of cloth before carrying out the rape.

Prosecutors said another suspect [named A. and who remains at large] aided and abetted S.S.

The 17-year-old testified he went to visit S.S. at around 8am at his residence in Oudh Al Mutainah.

Slapped

"I sat with him in the majlis. A. was also present. S.S. asked me to go with him to his bedroom because he wanted to tell me a secret. As soon as we entered his bedroom, S.S. slapped me. Then he asked to have sex with me but I rejected him.

"I tried to fight him back, but A. came and assisted him. They tied my arms and legs… then S.S. raped me on the floor. Two minutes later he carried me to his bed and raped me again. I freed myself when S.S. slept and escaped and informed my uncle about what happened," said the teenager.

Presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal Kamel said the court will appoint a lawyer to defend the suspect when it reconvenes on April 22.
