Dubai: Dubai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department arrested two suspects on charges of possessing and selling 710 heroin capsules worth more than Dh500,000 in the Al Muhaisnah area recently.
The arrest was made after Dubai Police received information that the first suspect, A.H.M., a 57-year-old Asian truck driver was set to receive a large amount of heroin. The police said that A.H.M. wanted to store the drug and later distribute it according to the orders of a drug lord in an Asian country.
The Anti-Narcotics Department formed a team and followed the suspect while he was receiving the drugs from the second suspect, M.B.A, 48, also an Asian.
The second suspect tried escaping after noticing that he was being watched, however, the team succeeded in arresting him inside the cargo area of a truck.
The two suspects, both married men, were taken to the Anti-Narcotics Department in Dubai Police where they confessed to the crime.
Police seized 710 heroin capsules, weighing around seven kilograms and valued at Dh525,000 from the suspects’ possession.
The suspects were referred to the public prosecution.
