How a smartphone functions boils down to its hardware and software optimisation. For the first time, Reno13 sports a custom MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chip that offers an upgrade in both performance and efficiency.

Gaming is an area that sees the most improvement, with AI HyperBoost Upgrade to reduce lag and Adaptive Frame Booster to enhance frame rates in fast-paced titles like PUBG MOBILE or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Despite pushing it with gaming performance, Reno13 stays smooth and doesn’t overheat thanks to its AI multi-cooling system.

From a software perspective, Reno13 runs ColorOS 15, one of the best Android-powered operating systems. In practice, this makes a difference almost immediately when taking calls on the device. A feature called AI Clear Voice 2.0 helps eliminate background noise from phone and video calls. But that is only scratching the surface when it comes to AI on the device.

In fact, Oppo is the first Android manufacturer that allows you to share content to and from an iPhone directly, via its O+ Connect application. The process is simple, hassle-free and intuitive.

A design that complements

As soon as you pick up Reno13, it exudes a premium feel in the hand, be it from its aerospace-grade aluminium frame or one-piece sculpted glass design. The back also has a refreshing butterfly shadow effect that adds character to the smartphone.

Its build allows for strength and durability previously unseen on a Reno series device, like IP69 waterproofing and dustproofing. As a whole, Reno13 series is the first case-less underwater photography smartphone, allowing for usage at a maximum depth of two meters for up to 30 minutes.

When underwater, the camera can also take advantage of a specialist Underwater Photography Mode to optimise colour, contrast and distortion. Being able to click pictures using the volume buttons also helps, and once you are done with your underwater adventure, Reno13 series has a one-tap drainage function that quickly expels water from the device to improve longevity.

Another aspect where longevity is assured is with the battery on Reno13. Inside, there is an impressive 5,600mAh cell that supports 80W SUPERVOOC charging, with a five-year durability rating. If you want to charge the device to full, it takes about 47 minutes whereas a quick five-minute charge gets you to 17 per cent.
