The Nature TTL (Through The Lens) Photographer Of The Year Awards celebrate the very best in nature photography, and this year, more than 8,000 images competed in categories ranging from animal portraits to underwater and landscape. Thomas Vijayan took home the top prize for his heartbreaking panoramic of the Austofonna Ice Cap cracking and emitting gushing waterfalls into the sea. Covering more than 8,000 square kilometres, Austoffana is rapidly melting in a region experiencing the disastrous effects of warming temperatures and rising sea levels. It is melting at alarming rates due to global warming and contributing to rising sea levels, a grave concern.
