Kids learn how to make their own crayons at Dubai’s OliOli

Dubai-based OliOli, which bills itself as a children’s museum, is all about learning through play and experimentation. The latest workshop on site is called the ‘Colour Factory’, which is on until September 18.

The price of entry into this pop-up is included in the standard ticket option, where one adult and one child are allowed entry at Dh146. The opening hours are: Monday to Thursday: 10am to 7pm. Friday: 10am to 8pm. Saturday: 9am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm. Here’s a look at what the colour factory has in store:

Crayon Creation Station: In this area, children will learn how to make their own crayons using beeswax, complete with the colour definition and shapes they’d like.

The Appearance of Colour: They’ll learn not only about different wavelengths of light that can affect hues but also they’ll manipulate the rainbow installation using monochrome soduim lights.

Sketch Junction: In this space, kids will use their self-made crayons to colour various surfaces. They’ll also name their own signature colours.

Over the summer break, this play centre, which has eight galleries over two floors, is also hosting a summer camp with themed weeks for kids aged four to 10. The next week, i.e. July 18 to 22 is all about space.
