AI WILL IMPACT 40% JOBS GLOBALLY, SAYS IMF: Artificial Intelligence will affect almost 40 per cent of global jobs, with advanced economies feeling the pinch far more than emerging markets and low-income countries, the International Monetary Fund has said in a recent analysis. According to IMF’s chief Kristalina Georgieva, the most likely scenario is that AI will worsen overall income inequality. And that’s a troubling trend policymakers must address to prevent from technology stoking further social tensions, said Kristalina. AI's income inequality effect will largely depend on how much the technology complements high earners as well. Also, more productivity from high-income workers and companies would boost capital returns, widening the wealth gap, Georgieva said.
