This time, the first half of the month will be taken up with matters of great import, for the present and the future. This comes in the shape of the COP28 event of global leaders, industry chiefs and all other stakeholders in the business of ESG. Decisions will be made on the future, not least of which would be to keep Earth’s temperature grounded to levels that human beings and societies are used to. But even with all those discussions happening, there is room and time for everyone to unwind. And a need to de-stress is there in all of us, and the UAE is just the place to do that. Something about being in the company of cinephiles make them come undone. Or so was the case of Danish acting legend Mads Mikkelsen, the villain in iconic hits like James Bond-led Casino Royale and Star Wars, who was speahearding a masterclass at the ongoing Marrakech International Film Festival. He joked about how his Danish accent made him the perfect villain since Hollywood loves to fixate on baddies who were initially from Russia and then Brits. Apparently, being Danish gave him the edge. This is a fine example of how talented actors like Mads - who play flawed but heroic roles in his native country - go dark when they enter Hollywood.
