UAE: What to do if your pet dies; process, costs, law explained Dubai: If you have a dog, cat or any other pet living with you at home, what are the steps you can take when they pass away? Gulf News reached out to Dubai Municipality to find out the options that are available to pet owners in the emirate.

According to Fatma Al Otaibi, Acting Head of Veterinary Services Section in Dubai Municipality, cremation services are provided for pet owners at the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory.

“If the pet owner is looking for cremation services in Dubai emirate, to put their pets to rest after they die, Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) in Zabeel has pet incineration or cremation services, without ash back or with ash back options in special urns and also individual cremation for dogs and cats against the payment of prescribed fees for the desired service,” Fatma said.

Where do I need to go?

The Central Veterinary Research Laboratory is located on the 17th street in Zabeel, next to the Dubai Equine Hospital.

What are the costs involved?

The cost will depend on the size of the pet as well as whether you wish to do an individual cremation, where the ashes are returned to the pet owner.

These are the charges listed by the laboratory’s website:

Pet Incineration (No ashes returned to pet owner)

Pet Cremation (ashes returned to pet owner)

(Urns are available at CVRL)

The laboratory also provides a service where you can get your pet’s paw print on sand or clay.
