Motorist ignores safety measures for convenience

Recently, I came across a pick-up truck unsafely stacked with boxes of goods on a flyover close to Al Garhoud area in Dubai.

Some of the boxes were tilting precariously to the left, making the vehicle unbalanced. The boxes were secured using thin nylon ropes, instead of straps.

A minor road surprise could have resulted in this vehicle turning turtle, becoming an immediate hazard to other road users. There was also a hazard of boxes falling off the pick-up truck in the way of other trailing vehicles, causing more accidents due to poor lashing.

I request the authorities to clamp down on such drivers to make our roads safer.
