One of the worst habits people have while driving is trying to find an inch of space to squeeze their vehicles into between traffic, just so that they can overtake cars and get ahead.

My friend managed to take a photograph of a particular motorist who was squeezing in from the left lane but had to stop on the pedestrian crossing during a red light. The motorist had the audacity to keep adjusting his vehicle and moving back but my car was behind him, so he couldn’t do much.

How to manoeuvre your car and the timing of applying your brakes is taught in driving schools.

Traffic signal timers also need to be installed, as I have noticed many motorists who cross the white line at traffic lights and then end up reversing. People are confused about when to slow down or speed up.

The reason behind installing traffic timers is due to the fact that motorists will have enough time to slow down. I have seen such timers set up in Ajman and I wonder why has it not been thought about it in other emirates.

Moreover, motorists should be well aware of where they are going and have a route plan before they commute, instead of making last-minute decisions, which can be severe and dangerous to other motorists who are driving.
