In Pictures: Expo 2020 Dubai site tour

Al Wasl Plaza dome is the heart of the Expo 2020 site. It is large enough to fit two airbuses A380’s inside. It is set to be one of Dubai’s most iconic buildings. After the Expo2020 the building will serve as a future hub for major UAE events. The Al Wasl Plaza will include many restaurants, fountains, and parks inside and will be covered by a translucent 67-meter-tall domed trellis of 130 meters in diameter. The trellis also serve as a 360-degree projection surface visible to visitors inside and outside.

Just off in the distance here is the Sustainability Pavilion. It will be completed by the end of this year and will start getting fitted out for pavilions throughout the start of 2020. This pavilion’s name is Terra and it will be home to an indoor forest. The goal with this pavilion is to remind people that it's not too late for us to save the world.

All throughout the Expo 2020 site you will find greenery and interesting design elements

If you look closely, you will notice that the UAE Pavilion is shaped like a falcon in flight. It will be a major attraction at Expo 2020 Dubai. The pavilion will tell the history of the nation as a connected global hub, and the vision of its leaders to create a peaceful and progressive society. We were also told that the falcon wings will move together in unison, to mimic the wings of a falcon flapping.

Not a very exciting picture, but this is a very important landscape. These are just a few hundred parking spots out of the 44,000 that Expo 2020 will provide to visitors.

The construction on Expo 2020 started in March 2015. According to officials, construction is running smoothly and everything will be complete ahead of the October 20th launch date. Here’s a look at how the entrance of the site looks like right now.

These design elements were built all over the Sustainability quarter, for shade during the day and they are used as lighting in the night time.

If you look closely, you can see part of the Expo 2020 logo in the lamp posts. A nice touch.
