UAE begins final World Expo 2020 bid

Paris: Dubai has started its final presentation to host the World Expo 2020 at the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) in Paris.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister; and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai, have joined the delegation in Paris.

Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State, began the presentation with Princess Haya, UN Peace Ambassador and wife of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, also delivering a speech.

Last night, the BIE General Assembly approved Dubai’s bid, clearing a key process in its bid for Expo 2020. The BIE is hosting a two-day general assembly where the candidate cities are presenting their progress report.

Princess Haya

"We have created a city that has become a global incubator of ideas and innovation," Princess Haya says in Expo2020 speech.

Princess Haya, UN Peace Ambassador and wife of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, begins her speech in Paris.

Princess Haya also stresses the partnership on which the UAE and Dubai were built - mobility, sustainability and opportunity.
