In photos: Catch 8 late night acts this weekend at Expo 2020 Dubai

October’s fourth and final 'Late Nights @ Expo' promises an eclectic two-night line-up of al fresco live music, welcoming performers from across the planet to Expo 2020 Dubai this weekend, October 28 and 29, from hip-hop and scratch DJ-ing to traditional Lesotho ‘mangae’ and socially conscious Egyptian songs – with all the good vibes.

On October 28, Jaye & Foe will set the tone with their blend of vintage remixes. The six-piece multi-instrumentalist Dubai-based band garnish their neo-swing storytelling with hints of reggae, ska and gypsy rhythms.

Egyptian singer and songwriter Abu, takes inspiration from his father, a Sufi poet, and is celebrated for promoting social issues through his music. He first discovered the power of words at just nine years old. A unique voice, at 13 he added guitar and songwriting to his already impressive piano-playing skills. His 2017 hit 3 Daqat has racked up 500 million views on YouTube.

Born and bred in the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho, singer and songwriter Selimo Thabane will serenade the audience with his deep, husky voice and unique blend of mangae (Basotho traditional music) and jazz.

The catchy, sing-along songs of Kahareb first caught the region’s attention with the showy music video for their debut single El Sauce, which spread like a wildfire through certain pockets of Egyptian social media.

On October 29, Canadian artist DJ Starting from Scratch will demonstrate how he’s a dab hand at performing for stadium-sized crowd, having worked with the likes of Usher, Kanye West, New Kids on the Block and John Legend, and manned the decks on tour with celebrated comedian Russell Peters.

Also from Canada comes rapper, producer, DJ and record executive Kardinal Offishall, who has been putting his nation on the music map for a quarter of a century. Expect his signature reggae/dancehall-influenced hip-hop, perhaps most famously showcased on his hit single 'Dangerous'.

SONYA, a highly rated Dubai-based DJ who has featured in multiple top DJ lists, will be representing the region with hip-hop, R&B, soul, funk, pop and dancehall tunes.

Grammy-winning American producer, actor and radio/television personality DJ Babey Drew is set to round off the night with a suitably stirring set. Late Nights @ Expo takes place at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre on October 28 and Jubilee Stage on October 29, from 10.30pm to 1am. The popular event will then return with a special line-up for Diwali Weekend on November 4 and 5.
