Truths revealed on Koffee With Karan: Bollywood star Ananya Panday talks Aditya Roy Kapoor, Orry and nepotism

Ananya Panday’s interaction with Karan Johar on his talk show has gone viral after host and director-producer Johar grilled the star about rumours that she was dating Aditya Roy Kapur. Johar asked her the questions multiple times but the star chose to tread carefully with her answers.

Johar first asked about Aditya Roy Kapur with reference to the two being spotted together on holidays recently. Ananya responded saying, “Somethings are private and special. And it should be kept that way (sic).” Again, during the rapid fire, Johar threw a direct question to Ananya: “Are you dating Aditya Roy Kapur?” Responding to the same, Ananya said: “I’m feeling very Ananya Coy Kapur answering that question.” Panday said “We are friends” three times in response to Johar’s continuous questioning.

Johar grilled Panday and co-star Sara Ali Khan about ‘Bollywood’s friend’ Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry. Orry has been seen posing with a lot of celebrities and this has the Internet wondering who he is and what he does for a living. Both actresses seemingly have no idea about his profession. Orry has been photographed at the Met Gala, major fashion events around the world but his claim to fame and profession has evoked interest.

In the never-ending nepotism debate, Panday had initially stepped on toes with her comments that despite being an insider, things haven't been easy for her as she too struggles with a lot of things before she went onto mention that her life hasn't been as privileged as people think of it to be because her father never appeared on 'Koffee With Karan'. Talking about the incident, Ananya said, "Honestly, I don't want to sound like I'm victimising myself, saying 'Oh it's so tough for me'. It's tough for everyone. It's not easy for anyone in this business no matter at what stage they're in their careers. All I have ever worked for is validation. I'm the daughter of a man who is a huge people pleaser. In every aspect of my life, I just wanted love from people."

On the couch, Johar also questioned rumours that Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday had both dated Kartik Aaryan. Johar initiated the topic asking whether it's easier for the stars to be cordial with each other considering they once dated the same guy. Instead of mentioning names, Sara talked about dating and breakups in general. "I don't want to say that ya, it's all easy because then it comes across as a little more frivolous than it is. Khan added, "I have realised, without sounding semi negative, there are actually no predicaments in this business. In my limited experience, there is no point making permanent best friendships, pinky promises saying I'll never talk to you again. All these nevers and always nahi hota (doesn't happen)."
