Everyone who has been speculating whether Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli will tie the knot or not in Italy can now rest easy.

They are now man and wife. But the party is far from over.

On Monday evening, the supremely good-looking couple, dressed in Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee ensembles, bid their single lives goodbye and got hitched in a lush, fairy tale-like wedding at a heritage resort in Tuscany with a close set of family and friends.

Just like George Clooney and Amal Amaluddin who got married in Venice in Italy, the destination wedding celebration at a villa called Borgo Finocchieto was incredibly private, with Sharma’s spokesperson slamming wedding rumours until the Hindu ceremony concluded.

But a statement that landed in our inbox last night claimed that the couple has already begun inviting all their industry friends and colleagues for a celebration in Mumbai on December 26. The Mumbai reception will have their colleagues and friends from Bollywood and cricketing fields.

According to the grapevine, Sharma’s close friends from Bollywood including Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan are on the guest list along with Kohli’s cricketing buddies such as Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar.

First they will host a reception in New Delhi for their families on December 21. In between all that party planning, the high-profile couple, who began dating each other on-off since 2013, will move into their new residence in Worli in Mumbai.

For the New Year, the globe-trotting couple will be South Africa. The couple, who have become a portrait of a modern-day couple, will get to work soon after ringing in 2018 together. While Kohli plans to prep for his upcoming series in South Africa, Sharma will return to India in the first week of January to resume filming of Aanand L Rai’s film with Shah Rukh Khan. In February, she will start work on Varun Dhawan’s Sui Dhaaga and then get to promoting her film Pari, which releases on February 8 in the UAE.

How did the world know about the wedding?

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli took their official Twitter accounts to break the wedding news. The couple tweeted: “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”

Celebrities react

A host of celebrities, including Sharma’s co-star and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan congratulated the couple.

“My love to both @AnushkaSharma & @imVkohli. May God bless u with happiness and health,” Khan tweeted.

“So wonderful. Many congratulations to both the families,” Shahid Kapoor posted.

Former Pakistan cricket caption Shahid Afridi added: “Congratulations @imVkohli @AnushkaSharma on your wedding. May God bless you two and give you happiness and a rewarding married life.”
