Umm Al Quwain Ruler issues decree setting up the ports, customs and free zone authority

Umm Al Quwain: His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, on Monday issued Law No. 1 of 2013 setting up the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.

The corporation will be a legal entity that enjoys both financial and administrative independence.

The corporation will be responsible for supervising the activities of the Ahmad Bin Rashid Port and Free Zone Authority and Department of Customs and Ports, as well as setting up plans, programmes and preparing budgets that will be later approved by the Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.

The law stipulates that every body that is now affiliated with the corporation will carry out their activities as per the laws and regulations pertaining to their operations.

The corporation’s financial resources will be allocated by the government and gross profit achieved by the department of customs and ports and Ahmad Bin Rashid Port and Free Zone.

Shaikh Saud also issued two other Emiri decrees. Emiri Decree No. 11 of 2013 appoints Sultan Saeed Sultan Al Ali as Executive Director of the Corporation, while Emiri Decree No. 10 sets up the corporation’s board of directors. The board will be chaired by Shaikh Khalid Bin Rashid Al Mualla, and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Rashid Bin Abdul Aziz Al Mualla as Deputy Chairman.
