Revealed: Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible

Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division, has introduced the new Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, which the British marque is positioning as “the luxury pinnacle of the Continental GT family.”

While all of Bentley’s vehicles have been known for their meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, the new Continental GT Mulliner Convertible’s mandate was to appeal to customers wanting an even greater focus on beautiful details.

The front fascia is dominated by a bold new Double Diamond grille flanked by cut-crystal inspired headlamps and bespoke Mulliner branded side vents that continue the same silver on black diamond theme as the grille.

Apart from all four seats, the door casings, and rear quarters, even the tonneau cover is now adorned with Diamond-in-Diamond quilting design.

Bentley says it takes almost 400,000 stitches to deliver this quilting across the cabin of the car, with each diamond containing 712 individual stitches. Apparently, the entire embroidery process alone takes 18 months to complete.

The centre console gets a contrast diamond milled technical finish, and a new brushed silver Breitling timepiece set within a quartet of chrome bullseyes.

The Continental GT Mulliner Convertible features mood lighting comprising seven different themes, along with illuminated Mulliner tread plates and LED welcome lamps that project the Bentley wings to the ground from the door mirrors.

Both V8 and W12 powertrain options will be available in the new variant. The 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 will propel the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible from 0-100kph in 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 333kph. The 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 has a top speed of 318kph and 0-100kph time of 4.1 seconds.
