Ferrari reveals 296 GTS convertible hybrid supercar

Ferrari has revealed a new hybrid supercar, the ‘296 GTS,’ which is an open-top version of the 296 GTB. The Italian marque’s fourth hybrid model follows the SF 90 Stradale from 2019, its convertible version, the SF90 Spider from 2020 and last year’s 296 GTB.

As the luxury sportscar maker pushes ahead with its electrification strategy, the new model gets a six-cylinder mid-rear turbo engine coupled with a 122KW electric motor for a total of 830 horsepower and 740 Nm, with 25 km of electric-only range.

The 296 GTS looks similar to its fixed roof sibling with minimal tweaks in design to accommodate the retractable roof.

The retractable hardtop is stowed away in a space behind the seats, and the roof takes just 14 seconds to open or close at speeds under 45kph and folds into two sections.

The 296 GTS can also be specified with Ferrari’s more track-oriented Assetto Fiorano package.

Despite its added heft of 70kg, the convertible does 0 to 100kph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 330kph.

Deliveries of the new model will start in Europe early next year and the price will be confirmed closer to that.
