Advisories issued by embassies don’t necessarily reflect specific threats, says minister.
Advisories issued by embassies in Qatar to their respective citizens are part of “general policies” and don’t reflect the security situation in the country, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, said.
“The advisory…to take precautions or avoid certain locations in the State of Qatar are part of the general policies followed by a number of countries regarding travel advisories and security updates for their citizens around the world, and do not necessarily reflect the existence of specific threats,” he said.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Al Ansari stressed that the security situation in the country was stable, and that the relevant authorities were closely monitoring the situation and were ready to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors.
The spokesperson added that Qatar continued to make active diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and maintain regional security and stability.
“The public will be kept informed of any developments that may warrant notification or action, and we stress the importance of obtaining information from official sources,” he said.
