Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported a landmark Dh4.427 billion in digital revenues for 2024 recording a 16% year-on-year increase driven by an unprecedented surge in smart service usage.

With nearly 680 million transactions across digital platforms and a 96% customer satisfaction rate, RTA is cementing its role as a digital innovation leader, aligning with Dubai’s ambition to become the smartest and most connected city globally.

Over the year, RTA recorded 679.6 million digital transactions, including 13.4 million through its smart applications, reflecting Dubai’s accelerated shift toward digital-first public services.

App usage

App usage has seen a sharp rise, with 3.742 million downloads — up 18% from 2023 — and a 27.5% increase in registered users, totalling 1.94 million. Digital parking services also saw strong growth, with nearly 30 million tickets issued via smart apps, marking a 24% increase.

Driving digital excellence

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, praised the strong performance, stating: “Our digital transformation is designed to provide seamless, proactive services that enhance Dubai’s digital quality of life. Leveraging AI, data science, and strategic partnerships, we are committed to positioning Dubai as a global hub for innovation, mobility, and smart living.”

He said that the 96% satisfaction rate across digital channels is a testament to the agency’s customer-centric approach and future-ready digital infrastructure.

Smarter Apps

In line with its roadmap for service automation and AI integration, RTA launched more than 33 services on its unified RTA app. These include the GCC’s first Samsung digital wallet integration for driver and vehicle licenses. Meanwhile, the revamped S’hail app received nine major updates, boosting transactions by 39% to reach 46 million and increasing downloads by 12.8%.

On its website, RTA introduced services like 360-degree virtual tours for rental spaces at metro and tram stations, digital sales payments, and nol card management. The site’s transaction volume grew by 12.5% as a result.

RTA also launched a new generative AI-powered version of Mahboub, its virtual assistant, with expanded capabilities in Arabic and English and a unified login system that spans all apps and platforms.

AI-driven governance

Further advancing its 360 Services Policy, RTA launched 15 key services on the ‘Dubai Now’ app, including driver and vehicle licensing. Integration with Dubai Municipality and AI-enabled image recognition in the Madinati service now automatically identifies and reports civic issues.

Additionally, RTA has connected its platforms with insurance providers, the Central Bank, and Dubai Ports to facilitate smooth digital vehicle sales, registration, and export services — bringing a fully integrated digital experience to residents and businesses.

Smart city, smarter future

From AI traffic management and smart kiosks to automated service delivery, RTA continues to align with Dubai’s strategic vision of becoming the world’s smartest city. These innovations not only streamline public services but also enhance Dubai’s global competitiveness in digital governance and urban mobility.
