Abu Dhabi: Performing Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan is an unforgettable spiritual experience for Muslims, combining the sacred atmosphere of Ramadan with the sanctity of the Holy Mosques.

Mecca witnesses a significant increase in pilgrims during this time, with over two million visitors in this month, particularly in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Planning your Umrah

When planning your Umrah trip during Ramadan, one of the key decisions is choosing the duration of your stay. Whether you wish to spend just a few days, the final ten nights, or the entire month in Mecca and Medina, each option has its benefits and challenges. Your decision should be based on personal circumstances and spiritual goals.

Bati Al-Suwaidi from Abna’ Al-Suwaidi Hajj and Umrah Campaign, said that performing Umrah in Ramadan is among the most rewarding acts of worship. However, he added, due to the high demand, careful planning is essential to choose the right timing and avoid extreme crowding.

“Umrah is a deeply spiritual experience that requires proper preparation to ensure a smooth and safe journey,” he added.

Al Suwaidi also shares some tips to help pilgrims select the right package and prepare for the health and safety aspects of your trip.”

“Always book your Umrah through an accredited agency. Ensure the package offers quality services, such as comfortable accommodation, reliable transport, and organised visa arrangements. Consider your needs—opt for nearby hotels if comfort is your priority, or look for affordable options with good transport links,” he explained.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also launched a comprehensive support system for pilgrims, providing assistance through its digital services at www.mofa.gov.ae and the its app. Emergency support is available 24/7 at the UAE emergency contact number (0097180024).

Senior citizens and individuals of determination can register for extra support through the “Twajudi” service, ensuring assistance while abroad.
