Additions boost network coverage as public transport usage surges in the capital

Dubai: The Riyadh Public Transport Company announced the opening of two new stations on the Riyadh Metro Orange Line, strengthening the Kingdom’s largest urban transit network.
The new stations — the Railway Station and Jarir District Station — are expected to enhance connectivity and ease mobility for commuters across the capital.
The Orange Line, also known as Line 3, stretches 40.7 kilometres from the Medina Road axis to Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman I Road.
It is the third and final line to open in the phased rollout of the Riyadh Metro network.
All six lines of the Riyadh Metro became fully operational with the launch of the Orange Line on January 5, 2025.
The network's phased opening began on December 1, 2024, with the inauguration of the Blue (Line 1), Yellow (Line 4), and Purple (Line 6) lines. This was followed by the opening of the Red (Line 2) and Green (Line 5) lines on December 15.
Operated under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Riyadh Metro is now the largest in the Middle East and holds the title of the world’s longest driverless train system.
The network spans 176 kilometres and includes 85 stations, among them four major interchange hubs.
The RCRC reported that the metro system recorded over 18 million users in just 75 days following its launch, with more than 162,000 trips completed and a total distance of 4.5 million kilometres covered — a strong indicator of the system's early adoption and growing public reliance on sustainable transport options.
