Kuwait City: A number of Arab and Islamic country ambassadors flocked to the grave of the late Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, at Al Sulaibikhat cemetery on Saturday, to mourn his loss and perform an absentee prayer.

The prayer was led by the Ambassador of Senegal to Kuwait, Ambassador Abdou Lahad Mbacke and the Bahraini ambassador, Salah Al Maliki.

Al Maliki said, “the ambassadors of the Arab and Islamic countries believed that we should visit the grave of the late Emir, as we were not able to pray for him in the mosque due to the exceptional circumstance [COVID-19]”.

He added, “we remembered the late Emir and his diplomatic and humanitarian assistance to all. We will never forget the imprint he left on his, and the experience and advice he gave us.”

The former Somali ambassador to Kuwait, who served in Kuwait for around 30 years, said, “we are diplomats have lost a brother, father and the sheikh of diplomacy.”

The Jordanian Ambassador, Saqr Abu Shtal, including members of the Jordanian community, also participated in the absentee prayer.

Abu Shtal emphasized that “this is the least we can do to mourn the loss of the Arab, Islamic and world countries.”

He added, “the members of the Jordanian community came here today to pray for the leader of humanity and in recognition of the great services provided by Kuwait to Jordan over the years.”
