Looking for a UAE public job? Many expats prefer government roles for better benefits
Hiring activity in the UAE surged in April, marking the sharpest job gains in 11 months, according to the latest Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data from S&P Global. This increase is a significant positive development for jobseekers, particularly following a relatively slow period that extended from late 2023 through early 2024.
Hiring picked up due to rising workloads in industrial and construction sectors, with businesses optimistic about continued growth through mid-2025 despite global uncertainties.
April’s PMI held steady at 54, reflecting sustained expansion in business activity. Any reading above 50 indicates overall economic health and growth.
While most expatriates in the UAE are employed in the private sector, many aspire to transition into government roles—considered more stable and often offering better benefits. Though preference is typically given to UAE nationals, there are several government-run institutions that open positions to skilled expats across various sectors such as healthcare, education, IT, urban planning, and social care.
If you're aiming for a public sector career in Dubai, government departments frequently post job vacancies across various roles. Both federal and local departments offer opportunities, with federal roles often providing performance-based incentives. A key resource for job seekers is the official Dubai Government portal – dubaicareers.ae.
