Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has launched a new campaign in which 1,200 women will be given Lulu shopping vouchers worth Dh2.5 million.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) announced the launch of the “Healthy Food is a Lifestyle” campaign, in collaboration with the Healthy Living Unit and Lulu Group, to encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyles aimed at enhancing public health and community well-being.

The campaign was officially launched by Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director General of ADAFSA, in the presence of Mouza Suhail Al Muhairi, Deputy Director General for Regulatory and Administrative Affairs, and Nasser Al Junaibi, Acting Deputy Director General for Operational Affairs, along with several senior officials from ADAFSA.

The event was also honoured by the presence of Dr Ahmed Al Khazraji, Executive Director of the Healthy Living Sector, and Yusuffali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group and other dignitaries.

How does it work?

The campaign will run for five months, targeting 1,200 Emirati women from across the Emirate. This will be implemented through the provision of weekly shopping vouchers, worth a total of Dh2.5 million to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables over a period of 20 weeks, redeemable at Lulu branches located throughout the UAE.

The campaign focuses specifically on women, based on the understanding that women play a central role in shaping family habits and making household food decisions.

Shared responsibility

Commenting on the initiative, Hasan Mohammed Al Marzooqi, Head of Food Research Section and Project Manager at ADAFSA, stated:

“Enhancing health and quality of life is a shared responsibility that requires genuine commitment and continuous collaboration among all members of society and its institutions.”

“We highly value the active role of our strategic partners from both the public and private sectors, who embody the spirit of cooperation and integration in serving community health—particularly the Healthy Living Unit and Lulu Group. Their support and effective contribution to this campaign will have a positive impact on improving daily healthy lifestyle patterns and strengthening the health of families and the wider community,” he added.

110 charter flights over 9 months

Yusuffali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group, said: “We are proud to collaborate with ADAFSA on this important initiative and highly appreciate this opportunity. Lulu reaffirms its commitment to supporting government efforts aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles. This initiative reflects the strength of our partnership and contributes to empowering consumers to make informed food choices without compromising on quality.”

He added that over the past months have witnessed stability in the availability of essential food commodities without any price increases, noting that Lulu ensured supply continuity by arranging approximately 110 chartered air cargo flights, including during the month of Ramadan.

Also present on the occasion were Salim V.I, Chief Operating and Strategy Officer at Lulu; Aboobakker TP, Director of Project Developments and V Nandakumar, Director of Marketing and Communications and others.
