Air defences intercept threats as debris falls, injuring residents in Ajban
Abu Dhabi: Twelve people have been injured after debris fell in Abu Dhabi’s Ajban area following the interception of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles by the UAE’s air defence systems, authorities said on Friday.
According to Abu Dhabi Media Office, six Nepali nationals and five Indian nationals sustained minor to moderate injuries, while another Nepali national suffered serious injuries in the incident.
The injuries were reported as part of the continuing assessment of the incident, which occurred after air defence systems successfully intercepted aerial threats, causing debris to fall in parts of the emirate.

Abu Dhabi authorities said emergency response teams had acted swiftly to secure the affected areas and provide medical assistance to those injured.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed earlier that UAE air defence systems had intercepted missile and drone threats, with sounds heard in some areas linked to ongoing defence operations.
Authorities also responded to falling debris at the Habshan gas facilities, where operations were temporarily suspended after a fire broke out. No injuries were reported at that site.
Abu Dhabi urged the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to avoid circulating rumours or unconfirmed reports.
