Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall expected to sweep across large parts of the Kingdom from Friday until Tuesday. Authorities urged residents to take precautions as the unstable weather is likely to bring intense downpours, thunderstorms and potential flash floods in several regions.

According to the latest forecast, the weather system will affect a wide geographical area, including Mecca, Jeddah, Medina, Tabuk, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders region, Hail, Al Qassim, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Al Baha, Asir and Jazan.

Metrology authorities advised the public to stay updated through official channels, avoid crossing flood-prone valleys, and exercise caution while driving, especially during heavy rain and low visibility. Residents in coastal and mountainous areas were also urged to follow safety guidance issued by civil defence authorities.

The centre said the multi-day weather event may vary in intensity from one region to another but warned that some areas could see severe rainfall that may lead to water accumulation and temporary disruptions.

Authorities emphasised that all relevant departments are on alert and ready to respond to emergencies, calling on the public to prioritise safety and follow official instructions.
